About the Fellowship Program

The Interventional Pulmonology (IP) Program at Henry Ford Hospital is one of the oldest IP Programs in the U.S. Since 1993, we have trained almost 30 fellows in IP. Our exclusive 1-year training IP fellowship started in 2007 and takes place only at the main Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Since then, we have graduated at least one IP fellow every year. Our fellowship program was granted the Accreditation from the AABIP/AIPPD in 2018 and ACGME Accreditation on April 5th, 2024.

The IP Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital provides the trainees with extensive training and experience in advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy, therapeutic bronchoscopy, and pleural procedures. Interaction with the different specialties related to thoracic oncology and airway diseases provides our trainees with an expertise in the multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Given our position, our program has a wide variety of cases referred from all over the state, the Midwest and the country. This variety includes malignant (60%) and benign (40%) conditions. We are a center for cutting edge technology and research in the U.S.
