Why Henry Ford Genesys Hospital?

I completed several of my rotations at Henry Ford Genesys as a student and was immediately impressed by how passionate and involved the preceptors were in supporting both students and residents as they developed their clinical skills. It was refreshing to work alongside pharmacists who were not only committed to high quality patient care, but also genuinely invested in the well-being and growth of their residents. I’m excited about the opportunities this program has to offer, and confident that this residency experience will support my professional development as a pharmacist.

Why Henry Ford Genesys Hospital?

I completed two rotations during my last year of pharmacy school at Henry Ford Genesys. As a student, on these short-term rotation blocks, Henry Ford Genesys instantly made me feel like a valuable member of their team. In addition to my primary preceptors, the entire pharmacy staff at this hospital are eager to support my learning and are invested in helping me reach not only my career goals, but my personal goals as well. This would not be possible without the preceptors consistently seeking out personalized career enhancing opportunities to help each of their students and residents excel in their desired career path. I am particularly excited about the opportunities offered here with the HSPAL program. While the focus of my PGY1 year is to gain clinical experience and strengthen my clinical knowledge, I am uniquely afforded opportunities and projects related to pharmacy administration, which will help me for when I enter my PGY2 year.

After completing eight pharmacy residency interviews, I immediately knew Henry Ford Genesys Hospital was my first choice. The welcoming environment and support from the preceptors made Genesys feel like home. The management, preceptors and staff demonstrated passion for the profession of pharmacy, patient care, leadership, and professionalism which perfectly aligned with my clinical and professional goals. They also exhibited a clear commitment to the mission of developing a competent and professional pharmacist. As a resident at Genesys, I feel supported, encouraged, and cared for, which creates an ideal environment for learning and growth while being held to the highest standards of pharmacy practice. I receive precise, constructive, timely and effective feedback on a regular basis that has been essential to my development, and I am beyond excited to implement my new skills into practice while delivering and ensuring the best patient care outcomes.

Why Henry Ford Genesys Hospital?

The main reasons I chose to complete my PGY1 residency at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital includes my previous learning experiences at the hospital, the excellent preceptor group, and the culture here. I completed my first hospital IPPE at Genesys in 2023, and had such a great experience that I decided to come back and complete 4 out of my 6 APPE rotations here as well. Another aspect that drew me here was that each preceptor fosters a great environment for learning, and challenges students and residents to think critically, ask questions, and then subsequently grow in clinical confidence. The above factors plus the collaborative culture that is emphasized in the pharmacy team made a strong impression on me and I decided to return as a resident.
