Resident Research Support
At Henry Ford Hospital, there are 510 residents and 135 fellows in 50 ACGME accredited training programs. Scholarly activities are an important component of all residencies and fellowships. All programs are expected to advance residents’ knowledge of the basic principles of research, including how research is conducted, evaluated, explained to patients, and applied to patient care. The hospital and training programs are expected to support and allocate adequate educational resources to facilitate resident involvement in scholarly activities.
At HFH, there are several opportunities beyond departmental and program support available to trainees and faculty to promote scholarly activity.
Research Support Services
All residents and fellows are eligible to use the HFH GME supported Research Support Services. HFH GME provides funding for consultations and support through Public Health Sciences (PHS). Any trainee can complete the Research Consultation Approval Form available on the GME internal website. All are eligible for 10 hours of support for each project. If additional hours are needed, the Program Director can approve additional supported time. Last year, the GME office supported 1,189 hours of PHS consultation and data analysis for trainees; over 3,600 hours in the past five years.
