Admission Requirements For 2025

Applications are distributed throughout the year. Deadline for the return of the completed application and admission prerequisites is February 1 for the class beginning that September.

Transfer Credits

No college credits are transferable to this program, as we are not a credit granting institution.

Important 

The following application items must be compiled by the student and sent to the Program Director in one envelope packet, mailed, and must be received by February 1.   

Personal interviews will be conducted by appointment, if application criteria has been adequately met.

1. Completed Application

Completed Application with a $40.00 non-refundable application fee (make check payable to Henry Ford St. John Hospital).

2. Official High School Transcripts

Official* High School transcripts (minimum GPA of 2.5).

3. ACT Scores

A minimum ACT (American College Testing) composite score of 18. You do not need to take the optional writing test.  (ACT score is usually found on your high school transcripts, as you most likely took it in high school). 

ACT scores are mandatory, regardless of your educational status or age. If you have not taken the ACT, you must register at your local high school or college as soon as possible or online at www.actstudent.org. To have the test results officially released to us, indicate our school code number as 2047.

*If you have taken the SAT, those scores will be evaluated utilizing the appropriate concordance tables to compare your SAT scores with the ACT composite score of 18 to determine if this minimum score requirement is achieved.

4. Official College Transcripts

Official** College transcripts (minimum GPA of 2.7) from all colleges and universities attended.

5. Minimum Associates Degree

A minimum Associates degree is required or enrollment through one of the following colleges or universities that we have articulation agreements with.

  1. Macomb Community College
  2. Cleary University
  3. Concordia University - Ann Arbor
  4. Wayne County Community College District

Additionally, the following college 100 (or 1000, depending on college/university) level courses or higher (minimum 15 credit hours total) are required with a grade of C or above:

  • Communications (English)
  • Information Sciences (Computers)Algebra (not Introductory, Basic, Elementary or Pre-algebra)
  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy and Physiology or Physical Science   

6. Letters Of Recommendation

Three official** professional letters of recommendation that speak to your preparedness, organizational and study skills, customer service experience, empathy, etc.

(Letters from family members and friends are not accepted.)

** Official documents must be sealed and either signed or stamped across the back by the school official or reference. Letters or transcripts that are not sealed or signed appropriately or appear to be tampered with will not be accepted.

Additional Suggestions

Considering the competitiveness of the selection process, other suggestions for coursework and experience include:

  1. Additional courses in Psychology, Physics, Basic Life Support, and other science courses.
  2. Healthcare experience with direct patient contact. This may be attained in the form of volunteer work.
