Job Shadowing and Candidate Qualifications

Candidate Qualifications

Individuals 18 and over are eligible for enrollment. N interview is required, during which candidates are evaluated on:

• Personal impression
• Customer service and patient care experience
• Interpersonal skills
• Educational background

Educational requirements include a minimum of an associate degree. That degree must be completed by August of the application year. The degree can be in any areas of study but must include:

• English (composition or communication) – at least 3 credit hours
• Algebra (intermediate level or above) – at least 3 credit hours
• Introduction to computers – at least 3 credit hours
• Medical terminology – at least 1 credit hour
• Anatomy and Physiology – at least 3 credit hours
• Behavioral science – at least 3 credit hours

Additional recommended experience includes:

• Introduction to Healthcare or documentation of 4 or more hours of job shadowing at our facility is strongly recommended
  • To shadow at our facility, applicants must be vaccinated for varicella, TDaP, MMR and the flu

Courses less than 7 years old are preferred but not required. A grade of “C” or higher is preferred.
