Happy Doctor's Day

Dear Fellow Physician,

Today we honor doctors for their dedication to the profession and the difference they make in the lives of their patients. Under ordinary circumstances this would be a nice day to extend a note of appreciation. But, obviously, this year is like no other.

Sincerely, there are no words to express the amount of gratitude we at the HFPN have for you and the career you have chosen. We shared in the struggles of this past year, and now we are partners in the brightness of a year that will, hopefully, allow us to return to a more normal existence.

I don’t’ know about you, but this past year has made me pause to really think about what it means to be a doctor. While we are clinicians, we are also counsellors and confidants to our patients, investigators and deep thinkers. Our patients called on us to get them through this period of time and we did. And while we may not fully realize the implications of what we have been through, the years to come will show us our growth and perhaps even change our own definition of what a doctor is.

On behalf of the entire HFPN leadership and administrative teams, I want to wish you a day filled with joy, reflection and pride in the profession you have chosen. The world is better because of it.
