Excellence in Executive Administration Winner

Gnam GwenGwen Gnam serves as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services at Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) in Detroit. Working collaboratively with the Magnet Team, clinical nurses and nurse leaders, HFH achieved its first Magnet® designation on March 20, 2020, making it the first hospital in Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) to receive this prestigious recognition. A leader at more than the local level, Gwen was the lead nurse on the health System’s Epic Inpatient Project and implementation. She continues to actively participate in the Nurse Advisory Council. 

When the COVID-19 pandemic began in Michigan, Gwen played an integral role. She remains a leader on the executive incident command center team, developing strategies in partnership with Infection Control to ensure nurses had the equipment and information to protect them and their patients. She also worked with her team to convert units and increase ICU beds to care for COVID-19 patients and continues to support the healing and recovery of frontline staff. 

Gwen is passionate about employee and patient safety and engagement. She is known for developing a culture and work environment that promotes professional models of care and evidence-based practice. Gwen has spent her practicing career with a focus on critical care, ambulatory care, surgery and administration.
