When are masks required?

Masks are required in areas where we are caring for severely immunocompromised patients. These areas include oncology (cancer), transplant, neonatal intensive care, special care nurseries, and dialysis and infusion in our ambulatory areas. Please wear a mask in any area if you are asked. Masks will be provided in areas where they are required.

When are masks recommended?

If you are immunocompromised or visiting someone who is immunocompromised, we recommend you wear a mask to protect yourself or your loved one from respiratory illnesses.

If you have cold, flu or COVID symptoms, you should wait until you no longer have those symptoms to visit a patient in the hospital. If your visit cannot be delayed, you should wear a mask.

You may wear a mask at any time if you wish.

Mask guidelines are subject to change depending on levels on community illness. Please follow the guidelines provided by our team members at Main Lobby, Emergency, and 24-Hour entrances, and at our outpatient facilities.

Wearing and caring for masks

Adding a Mask

Mask-wearing tips:

  • Wear a mask that fits you well and is comfortable, such as a KN-95 mask.
  • Do not wear a mask that is wet or dirty.
  • Wash your hands before and after touching the mask.
  • Touch only the bands or ties when putting on and taking off your mask.
  • Position the mask to cover your nose, mouth and chin. If you adjust the mask to cover those areas, wash your hands before and after.
  • Make sure you can breathe and talk comfortably through your mask.
  • Throw away disposable masks after each use.

Avoid these mask-wearing mistakes:

  • Don’t touch your or your child’s mask while it is being worn.
  • Don’t wear the mask under your chin with your nose and mouth exposed.
  • Don’t leave your nose or mouth uncovered.
  • Don’t share your mask with family members or friends.
