Car Seat Installation Station - Rochester

Henry Ford Rochester Hospital’s Trauma Prevention Services and Safe Kids Oakland County have partnered together with the Rochester Fire Department to provide free, educational car seat installation checks to anyone (expecting parents, grandparents, caretakers, etc.) who would like to practice installing their seat while learning valuable recommendations and safety guidelines from a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Each individualized check takes approximately 30 mins per seat and is done by appointment only. Please register below and select your preferred timeslot. If you have more than one car seat, you must register for additional timeslots. This is an educational, hands-on event. Technicians are prohibited from installing seats for you. You must be able to install the car seat yourself before leaving the event.

Safe Kids Oakland County’s FREE car seat program is on hold

Due to federal funding cuts, Michigan’s Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) has halted all car seat orders for FY2025. Like many other MI organizations, Safe Kids Oakland County receives our car seats through OHSP, causing us to pause our car seat distribution program. Should funding become available, our car seat program will resume. If you register for an “in-need” seat before July 18, 2025, you have reserved a seat.

We are still checking car seat installation for those that currently own a car seat by appointment only.
