Dennis Butts, MBA, is the Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy & Network Development Officer for Henry Ford Health.

A nationally recognized expert in healthcare network design, innovative care delivery and payment models, Butts provides executive counsel and strategic leadership for the health system’s enterprise-level strategy. He collaborates with physician and operational leaders across the organization to deliver on the synergistic promise of an integrated delivery system inclusive of acute, ambulatory, post-acute, network and health plan assets.

Prior to joining Henry Ford Health, Butts was a partner at strategic consulting firm Guidehouse, serving as the firm’s Health Strategy & Innovation Leader across commercial health, public health, and life sciences verticals. With more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience, Butts led numerous enterprise growth initiatives and is a nationally recognized expert in network design, and innovative care delivery and payment models. He has helped healthcare organizations create integrated service line plans, ambulatory strategies, and revenue models that support growth.

Butts is deeply committed to ensuring organizations are “future-proofed” to succeed, thrive, and achieve their mission to improve health and access to quality care in their communities. Excelling in clinical integration and physician alignment strategies, Butts served as an Integration Leader for Henry Ford Health’s proposed joint venture with Ascension Michigan, advising Henry Ford Health executive leadership and working in conjunction with the Executive Steering Committee to develop critical paths for Day 1 readiness, physician integration strategies, and post-integration growth planning. His work in clinical integration spans single hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers, emphasizing the development of strategies that thrive under both fee-for-service and value-based care models.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Butts has an MBA in Strategic Management and certification in Health System Management, both from Case Western Reserve University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from the University of Akron. His thought leadership is featured in numerous publications including Becker’s Hospital Review, Fierce Healthcare, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
