Leading-Edge Clinical Education
Henry Ford Health is proud to be one of the largest medical training enterprises in the entire country. More than 6,000 learners train here annually, including 1,300+ medical students and 1,000+ residents and fellows. We’re proud of this ranking, but the implications go much deeper. Those who train here are more likely to continue practicing locally, filling the next generation pipeline of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals for Detroit and the rest of the state. That’s a vital advantage amid the nation’s intensifying clinician shortage.
The best medical minds aren’t just teaching here — they are researching, innovating and translating all of this to the bedsides of local patients.
With your support, this campaign will bolster our educational infrastructure to build pathways to healthcare careers and support the retention and recruitment of the brightest minds in healthcare.
Campaign Priorities
-
Workforce DevelopmentDonors can create opportunities for community members, nurses, residents, students and other trainees to engage in meaningful healthcare careers and to pursue research or advanced education. Just like at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, thanks to a gift from Alro Steel and the family of founder Al Glick, which created an endowed workforce development scholarship fund to generate opportunities in healthcare for area students. In collaboration with Spring Arbor University, Jackson College and several other local and regional partners, scholarships will provide educational opportunities for community members who want to build careers in healthcare.
-
Learning Environment EnhancementsMedical education is evolving and expanding to keep pace with modern learners and the explosion of knowledge. Donors can invest in technology and educational environments to ensure that our facilities are equipped with the best educational supports. This includes enhancements to the educational commons at Henry Ford Health like Buerki Auditorium at Henry Ford Hospital.
-
Post Doc FellowsDonors can create opportunities for residents, students and other trainees to engage in research and advance their skills through fellowships. Gifts like the Marvin M. Tamaroff Family Fellowship or Fisher Family Fellowship are advancing education, research and care in robotic kidney surgery and heart and vascular care as just a few examples of how this can make an impact.
