Third-Year Rotation

Third-Year Core Rotations are reserved for Michigan State University (MSUCOM) , Kansas City University (KCUMB) and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU) . Third year scheduling and student placement is determined by the university.

Fourth Year Rotations

Because of high demand, visiting students may complete no more than two rotations per academic year. Each visiting student is allowed one Elective and one Audition rotation.

An Elective rotation allows a visiting student to explore a specialty of interest or gain additional clinical experience. An Audition rotation is intended for students who plan to apply to a specific program for residency. Audition rotations are offered between July and December, depending on the program. During this period, elective rotations are not allowed within the residency programs offering audition rotations.

Audition Rotation

We begin accepting audition rotation requests for the 2026-2027  academic year on Monday, February 23, 2026, at midnight. Please do not submit an audition request before this date. We will automatically deny any request received prior to Monday, February 23, 2026.

Elective Rotations

We begin accepting elective rotation requests for the 2026 - 2027 academic year on Monday, March 30, 2026. Please do not submit a student elective rotation request before this date. We will automatically deny any request submitted prior to Monday, March 30, 2026.

Audition Rotation Policy

Henry Ford Warren Hospital has implemented a refundable $75 processing fee for all approved visiting student audition requests. Students should remit processing fee by money order only. More information regarding the audition fee can be found in the on-boarding checklist.

The audition fee is only refundable 1. Upon full completion of your rotation and 2. Your medical student ID badge is returned within 3-days of the completion of the rotation or, 3. Cancellation of your rotation more than 30-days prior to the start of the rotation.

The $75 processing fee will be forfeited if you engage in unprofessional conduct, including cancelling your rotation within 30 days, failing to appear for your rotation, or not returning your badge.
