Dr. Sarah Tarnowsky is a family medicine physician and faculty member at Henry Ford Medical Center - Harbortown, where she specializes in addiction medicine and women's health. She views the patient-physician relationship as a vital partnership, essential for addressing health disparities and providing comprehensive support for those navigating recovery and those seeking overall wellness. A metro-Detroit native, she earned her medical degree from Midwestern University and completed both her family medicine residency and a fellowship in Community Medicine at PCC Community Wellness Center in Chicago. With a Master's in Public Health from the University of Illinois-Chicago focused on health policy, Dr. Tarnowsky brings a systems-level approach to treating substance use disorders and promoting wellness within vulnerable populations.
In her clinical practice, she manages chronic medical conditions, performs procedures including Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) insertions, such as IUDs and Nexplanon, and provides treatment for substance use disorders. As a dedicated educator, Dr. Tarnowsky serves as a mentor and faculty member for the Henry Ford Family Medicine Residency program. She is passionate about teaching the next generation of physicians how navigate the complexities of preventative medicine in vulnerable communities. By integrating clinical expertise with a commitment to public health, she strives to improve outcomes for her patients and the broader community through compassionate, evidence-based care.
