Since 1964, the Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Center has provided comprehensive 24- hour, seven day per week care to adults age 18 and older in order to restore independence following a life-altering illness or injury.

Our expert rehabilitation team, led by a board-certified rehabilitation physician, includes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Neuropsychology, Social Work, and Rehab Nursing. Individual treatment plans are designed to meet each person’s needs and goals.

The only inpatient program Downriver accredited by the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF), we meet the highest quality standards among rehabilitation programs nationwide. The program was also awarded CARF Specialty Certification for both the Stroke and Amputee programs.

Real-life rehabilitation tools at Henry Ford Wyandotte

During inpatient physical and occupational therapy, you often have to relearn skills or adapt to new challenges. With both a Ford Escape SUV and a mock apartment onsite, you’re able to learn in a real-world setting.

• Our training SUV allows you to practice getting in and out of the car, adjust the seat and seatbelt, and safely store a wheelchair or walker. If you have your own car, our physical therapist will move the training to your car a day or two before discharge.

• Our training apartment replicates what you’ll encounter once home and allows you to practice getting in and out of bed, making a meal and getting in and out of the shower.

If you should require additional rehabilitative care after discharge, we’ll handle all necessary arrangements for your transition to outpatient rehabilitation.
