iWellness OCT Screening
Our teams are committed to providing you with the most thorough eye examination in the health care industry. With that in mind, we are now offering a new non-invasive health screening of the eye called the iWellness OCT. Like a non-contact ultrasound, it’s extremely safe, and it captures detailed cross-sectional views of the layers of the retina. This new scan allows for the detection of small changes in eye anatomy earlier than can be detected using the traditional microscope. This may lead to earlier detection of a variety of sight threatening conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and Glaucoma. If there is an eye condition suspected or detected with the iWellness OCT screening, we may advise you that additional testing and/or management is advised. Henry Ford OptimEyes believes iWellness OCT offers a tremendous opportunity for each of our patients to be pro-active.
While screenings are not covered by medical or vision insurance companies, we encourage patients (18 years and older) to elect to have it performed at a cost of $35. Your technician will perform the scan, and then your doctor will review your results during your examination. In addition, the scan will become part of your permanent electronic medical record.
