Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Biological and biomedical research plays a critical role in advancing our understanding of health and disease and in developing new, more effective treatments for serious medical conditions. But research involving recombinant DNA, infectious agents, and other hazardous biologics must be conducted with the highest safety standards in mind. Proper containment and biosafety practices are essential to protect researchers, the public, and the environment.
About the IBC
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) at Henry Ford Health provides oversight for research involving potentially hazardous biological materials, as outlined in the NIH Guidelines. This committee is responsible for evaluating research protocols, ensuring appropriate biosafety containment levels, and promoting safe laboratory practices.
The IBC helps ensure all work aligns with federal regulations and institutional safety standards, fostering a culture of responsible and ethical research.

Research Annual Report
The Department of Research Administration annually compiles a report that includes the abstracts of all federally-awarded grants, contracts and subcontracts. In addition, the Sladen Library searches for all manuscripts published by Henry Ford employees in the biomedical literature. Our Annual Report also includes a list of scholarly articles published. The grants and publications are organized by clinical department.
