Curriculum
The Podiatric curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive training rotations resulting in a high level of competency in Podiatric Surgery. The program provides technical and academic opportunities through challenging rotations and didactics.

Podiatric Surgery 20 months
Podiatric Medicine 8 weeks
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation 6 weeks
Neurology 4 weeks
Emergency Medicine 4 weeks
General Surgery 4 weeks
Radiology 4 weeks
Internal Medicine 4 weeks
Endocrinology 4 weeks
Plastic Surgery 4 weeks
Vascular Surgery 4 weeks
Orthopedic Surgery 4 weeks
Infectious Disease 4 weeks
Family Medicine 2 weeks
Pathology 2 weeks
Psychology 2 weeks
Anesthesia 2 weeks
Dermatology 2 weeks
Rheumatology 2 weeks
TOTAL 36 months

Clinical rotations are divided over the three-year program as follows:

PGY 1

  • Podiatric Medicine & Surgery - 4 months
  • Infectious Disease - 1 month
  • Psychology - 2 weeks
  • Dermatology - 2 weeks
  • Emergency Medicine - 1 month
  • Pathology - 2 weeks
  • Internal Medicine - 1 month
  • Neurology - 2 weeks
  • General Surgery/Vascular Surgery - 1 month
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation - 1 month
  • Radiology - 2 weeks
  • Anesthesia - 2 weeks

PGY 2

  • Podiatric Medicine & Surgery - 9 months
  • Orthopedic Surgery - 1 month
  • Plastic Surgery - 1 month
  • Endocrinology - 1 month

PGY 3

  • Podiatric Medicine & Surgery (Focusing exclusively on Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery) – 11 months
  • Rheumatology - 2 weeks
  • Mission trip to an underserved area of the world is available

Didactics

Multiple didactic activities are required including ACFAS research poster/abstract, ACFAS Michigan Division surgical presentations, MPMA consortium, MPMA abstract competition, monthly radiology reviews, monthly journal clubs, weekly board reviews, monthly cadaveric dissection labs, weekly podiatric skill workshops, monthly practice management, and PRESENT online lecture series.
