Prospective Candidates
We are looking for residents who are a good fit for our mission to improve the mental health of underserved populations and for our warm, close-knit, and team focused culture. To achieve the best fit possible, we perform holistic reviews of the applications we receive and consider the unique experiences, attributes, and competencies of our applicants.
We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Completed applications are reviewed for interview selection and must include the
following items:
- Application
- Medical school transcript
- COMLEX/USMLE reports
- Dean’s letter
- Letters of recommendation (3)
- Personal statement
The application deadline for the academic year is December 15th. Because we offer a limited number of interview slots, we encourage students to apply early. Applicants selected to interview will be contacted by the Medical Education Coordinator for Psychiatry.
Information about Interviews:
Our interviews are semi-structured, with standardized questions about attributes that we believe are important for success and for good fit in our program. These questions will ask you to describe and reflect on some of your past experiences and some hypothetical scenarios. There will also be time for some free discussion and for you to ask questions after finishing the structured sections.
If selected for an interview, you will be contacted through the ERAS or Thalamus processing system. To accommodate schedules, interviews may sometimes be arranged before all letters of recommendation are received, although only completed applications will receive final consideration.
Audition rotations for medical students are accepted on a first come first serve basis. We encourage four-week rotations but on a case-by-case basis we will consider two-week rotations. If you would like to apply for an audition rotation, please contact Janice Showerman, you can find that application for audition rotations here.
