President of the Psychiatric Residency Association
Plans and coordinates social events emphasizing resident wellness activities. Events include the welcome event, longitudinal wellness calendar, holiday celebration, residents’ retreat, and recruitment events.
Secretary of the Psychiatric Residency Association
Records residency meeting minutes, reviews them with the Program Director and disperses them to all residents.
Treasurer of the Psychiatric Residency Association
Allocates funds in coordination with the Program Director, keeps a running balance of funds and documents use of funds.
Committees:
Representatives to Michigan Psychiatric Society (MPS)
Attends MPS Council Meeting either in Lansing or by conference call. Report updates regarding MPS to the residents at the monthly resident meeting and help coordinate the representation of the residency program at the annual MPS spring meeting.
Representatives to House Staff Council
Represents the Psychiatry residency program at the monthly house staff council and provide feedback, concerns and suggestions on its behalf.
Book Club
Selects books for each event in coordination with the Program Director. Chairs come prepared with discussion questions, related evidence-based information, correlates to standardized exams, and help facilitate the round-table discussion.
Film Club
The film club events occur every 3-4 months. Planning includes recruiting faculty to host the event, and choosing a movie with applicable learning pearls.
Journal Club
Facilitates choice of journal articles and presenters for monthly event in coordination with the Program Director.
Research Club
Maintains a running list of ongoing research projects in the department, coordinates collaboration between residents and faculty and updates Program Director accordingly.
WWellness Task Force
The aim is to create wellness related events for residents across the system as well as convey to administration what residents need. Help coordinate and attempt to increase engagement in wellness initiatives such as the well-being index.
Social Media Team
The goal is to help trainees and colleagues get to know our program and our residents, particularly during the time of virtual interviews. Public relations via social media is becoming increasingly prudent and many professional careers would benefit from some competency in this area.
