Rotations & Requirements

Residents complete a 6-week orientation rotation beginning in mid-June followed by 11 four-week rotations.

Longitudinal Experiences 

  • Medication Use Evaluation – completed over 7 months
  • Major Project – completed over 12 months
  • Clinical Staffing – every other weekend x 6 months (or attainment of objectives), then every third weekend

Research Presentations

  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
  • Ohio Pharmacy Resident Conference (OPRC)

Additional Experiences

  • Journal Watch - create visual abstracts to stay updated on the latest literature
  • Journal Club - engage in lively discussions about recently published, groundbreaking studies
  • Present a Continuing Education program to our team
  • Engage in community service with co-residents (3 events/year)
  • Stay involved through leadership opportunities with Southeastern Michigan Society of Health System Pharmacists (SMSHP), Michigan Society of Health System Pharmacists (MSHP) or other pharmacy organization
  • Ongoing professional mentorship from experienced preceptors
  • Teaching Certificate – through Wayne State University (optional)
